Welcome to the Joe Johns Biography Webpage!
Joe Johns was born on a ranch just west of the small Texas hill country town of Leander and attended schools in Leander, Liberty Hill and Georgetown.
Joe was next to the youngest in a family of five boys and one girl. Joe's Dad was born with an eye disease that eventually left him legally blind. Although barred from holding most public jobs, Joe's father managed to raise his family by farming and cutting and selling firewood and cedar posts (Joe learned survival skills at an early age).
Joe's love of music began as the family listened to the Grand Ole Opry every Saturday night on the family radio. Later, Joe met Ernest Tubb who had a big influence on this young lad from central Texas.
Joe was drafted into the army during the Viet Nam War and while stationed in Alabama, Joe played with a band called the Royal Rebels. Ater receiving his honorable discharge, Joe moved to Longview, joining up with a bluegrass band called the Diesel Road Gang.

Joe's first radio appearance was with radio station KWKH of Shreveport, Louisiana on the John Tremble Show.
Over the years, Joe has paid his dues by performing in the bands of such notable country music stars as Hank Thompson, Johnny Bush and Nat Stucky to name a few.
As a songwriter and entertainer, Joe's deep, rich voice and powerful life experiences give his songs a true Texas flavor that every Texan can identify with. From the cedar breaks of the Texas Hill country to the forefront of Country Music, Joe Johns is just hitting his stride. Look for many more hits from this veteran of country music.
