Wesley Richards Confederate Cavalry Cabine
Rare Civil War era, Wesley Richards Confederate Cavalry Cabine; great patina. The Wesley Richards was adopted as the standard for the British Cavalry in 1861 and a favorite of the Confederate Cavalry because of its reliability and knockdown power. For the Southern troops, Sharp's Rifles were in short supply and the Union blockade was difficult to circumvent. The Westley Richards Co was located in Birmingham, England.
This particular carbine was owned by descendants of a Civil War veteran until the 1970's when the gun was sold at the Tom Keilman auction in Pfluggerville, Texas and identifed as a great example of a Civil War Carbine by gun expert, Tom Keilman.

Vintage Sharps Cavalry Cabine
Great relic of the Civil War era. Vintage Sharps Carbine with marked patent date of 1858. Measures 37 inches in length from the butt to the tip of the barrel. The Sharps uses a .52 caliber 475-grain projectile with a 50-grain cartridge and Falling Block action.
The Carbine version of the Sharps was very popular with the cavalry of both the Union and Confederate armies and was issued in much larger numbers than the full length rifle.
The falling block action lent itself to conversion to the new metallic cartridges developed in the late 1860s, and many of these converted carbines in .50-70 Gov't were used during the Indian Wars in the decades immediately following the Civil War.
The 1990 western film, "Quigley Down Under", starring Tom Selleck, featured the Sharps Rifle.

It features a beautifully engraved matte gold plated receiver, lever, barrel bands and an identification medallion in the stock.
The receiver features beautiful engravings of Texas icons including the Alamo, the Texas capital, pioneer wagons, the space shuttle, oil wells, farmers with mules and plows, and cowboys and longhorn cattle.

Old West era Navajo Eye Dazzler, Germantown rug, circa 1880. Spectacular old 31-1/2 inch by 62 inch Navajo Eye Dazzler. Red is the dominant color in this tightly-woven vintage Germantown rug. The influx of Germantown three- and four-ply yarn entered the Navajo weaving story in the 1880s. Its brilliant colors, and the Navajo weavers� thirst for this color, added style to the sedate �Chief�s Patterns.� Germantown yarn gave birth to the �Eye Dazzler.� Extremely finely woven, the Three Ply Germantown was the first of several Germantown yarns the Navajo could obtain and are the rarest of all. In addition, since the yarn was so fine to work with and was relatively expensive to obtain, only the best weavers worked with the yarn. Consequently, relatively few were made, and most were destroyed through use, making these remaining examples particularly rare.

This is a vintage 1880's, 16-inch seat,solid A-fork, Texas trail drive saddle dating back to the days of the Chisolm Trail cattle drives. This fantastic old west relic features a leather-covered horn, rawhide-wrapped wooden tree. The 125 year old saddle has leather-covered round rigging rings, and new wool liner. It has Phoenix-style fenders, and Texas skirts.The tree has the Texas-style high Dally horn, 6" Cantle, and 4 1/2" Gullet. The saddle is double rigged with the original leather-covered dees; solid and ready to ride!

Full-length, warrior's breastplate from eastern Montana, old bone hairpipe, french trading beads with great patina. In the 1880's, the cattle-bone hair pipe patterned after the shell version became the standard material for constructing breastplates. Indians wore these bone hair pipe breastplates into battle but even after the reservation period, Indians continued to wear the breastplates on occasions for which "Indian dress" was preferred - in traditional dances on their own reservations, on visits to Washington, and in their appearances in Wild West shows.

Stagecoach Strongbox
True relic from the Old West era. This museum-quality relic of the 1800's, an iron Stagecoach Strongbox is the newest addition to the Fort Tumbleweed collection of historically-significant old west relics. This 50-pound cast iron strongbox measures 13" X 9" X 7" tall. The strongbox has a very ornate design on the top, and the two handles are very unusual. The 1800's stagecoach strongbox is in very good conditiion, no breaks, cracks or chips in the metal. There are some scratches in the paint and some paint loss. A very unique old west relic.

Beaded trade pipe axe 18 inches in length. Approximately 8 inches of beading along the pipe stem (red, white and blue glass beads, nicely done)and laced deerhide extends to the end of the pipe stem. The pipe bowl is brass while the blade of the axe is steel. A beautiful addition to your Indian or Southwest collection. With a smoking pipe bowl and a drilled or hollowed handle, the pipe tomahawk became the most popular "hawk" of them all. It developed as a trade good by Euro-Americans for trade with native peoples.

Imation whale's tooth with great scrimshaw (scene of a great sailing ship of the 1800's). Scrimshaw was an artform whereby Yankee whalemen of the early 1800's spent their idle hours etching scenes onto whale teeth. This one is carved out of bone and made to look like the traditional ivory tooth which is restricted by the Marine Mammal Protection Act of 1972 and the Endangered Species Act of 1973.
The scrimshaw tooth stands approximately 6 inches tall and makes a great addition to your old west display.
